Unable to access some shares through workgroup

  • A while ago I couldn't browse my divx's on my PC though XBMC, my DVD share still worked fine though. I moved all my divx's too a different hard drive, shared it and it's been fine for 3 months.

    Now I can't access my divx's again. Nothing's changed, I am running XP but there are no passwords. I have tried sharing individual directories on that drive without success.

    Basically, I can see the movies share, but when i click on it nothing happens. It doesn't ask for a password or lock up or anything. ?

    Help?!

  • Just create a useraccount called "xbox" with a password "xbox" for example and try it that way. XP has issues with no passwords or usernames & always has.

    Make sure your sharefolders have the new useraccounts access thought.


  • lol, I have the same problem with the 9 July 2006 version of xbmc. Weird thing is I can access all my other PC's on my network, except my main PC with XP SP2 installed.


  • Sussed it.

    Found this in event viewer on my PC with all the files:

    The server is configured with too many file system filter drivers (for example, Quota and anti-virus) and/or too many devices, or the irpstacksize parameter is set to less than the default of 15 stack frames. The irpstacksize represents the number of kernel modules that can store information in the input/output (I/O) Request Packet (IRP). The IRP is used to track I/O requests in the kernel.

    Put the IRP to 20 and all's well.

    Don't know why it would let me access some and not others, but it's fixed now. Thanks for your help.
