Should Nancy Pelosi be considered anathema? ?

  • Tom Brokaw asked her when she believes human life begins, Pelosi responded:"I would say that, as an ardent practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time, and what I know is, over the centuries, the Doctors of the Church have not been able to make that definition." Also, it is noteworthy to mention she has been given a perfect voting score from the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League. Is a statement from the Bishops in order stating the self excommunication of Pelosi for public blatant denial of church teaching.

  • Why on earth would she be considered anathema??? She should be excommunicated because she's Pro-Abortion?

This is the saddest thing I've ever heard and that I've encountered in the church. I'm Roman Catholic and am pro-abortion. I am the ONLY person in my church who is like that and all of the parishioners and the priests know it. For some reason people think that the women who have abortions are women who have sex every single night but most importantly with different men. Right? And also once they found out that they're pregnant, they make an appointment to get an abortion, of course they have to get their hair done first and then the appointment, then go to that party they've been wanting to go to and then have sex with any guy there right? isn't that it?

Jesus Christ! Do you people understand the emotions going through someone getting an abortion? Do you think it's a decision made without thought? I come from a thrid world country and would pay good money to have a pro-choice clinic there to give 1-good health care, 2-safe sex education,3- yes abortion services. I've known adults, that when they were kids their mothers would beat them and treat them like crap because they didn't want to ahve kids but that thier husbands "forced" them, I know so many kids whose mothers also beat them like crap, but you know why? this is a funny one. The husbands left them for another women, but the kid looked exactly like the father. I know women who have been raped and got alley abortions because they didn't have real clinics, and the clinics they DID have had harrassers there. But i guess the most important part is that the kids lived right? they had life? doesn't matter if they were beaten every single day, didn't eat, was molested and raped. No it really doesn't matter. What matter is theya re alive, physically anyways.

Nancy Pelosy is the first woman speaker, she had accomplished so much yet she should be excommunicate for going against A teaching fo the church.

Why her? is it because she's a public figure? how about the people who have pre-marital sex? kiss on the first date? isn't that lust? how about people who divorce because of physical abuse? I can go on...

  • she's a scumbag in so many different ways, it's hard to choose just one.

  • No.

  • I applaud Pelosi, in this case, for not bending to the dogma of her church/religion and respecting the separation of the church and state.

Obama had a good statement about this:

Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values. It requires that their proposals be subject to argument, and amenable to reason. I may be opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but if I seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church or evoke God's will. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all.â

    - Sen. Barack Obama, 6/28/06

  • Nancy Pelosi has alread excommunicated herself without the Bishops making the statement. She is not an ardent practicing Catholic because she does not hold to Catholic beliefs and practices.

If and when she takes Holy Communion, she eats and drinks to her own damnation according to St. Paul - and I would think that no priest worth his salt would want to aid and abet her in her misguided actions.

I have absolutely no respect for the woman; she reminds me of the passage in scripture that says, "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." And put John Kerry and Ted Kennedy in that boat along with her.

  • No. I think she is an honest person following the laws of the country and her own conscience. The Church has its own problems.

  • Yes.

She is not an "ardent practicing Catholic" if she supports abortion. Catholic and pro-choice are polar opposites.

ADDED: Excommunication is not supporting "eternal torture' for anyone. An excommunicated Catholic is just someone who dissents from Church teaching. They should not receive the Eucharist until they have come to understand the Church teachings, however they are still to attend Mass, pray, go to confession and seek God's will in all things. Excommunication is misunderstood by non-Catholics...it is not being thrown out of the Church never to return. In fact, we expect one will return, humble and right with God.

  • YEs I believe she should, because christian doctrine especially in this regard has stayed very much the same. The Catholic church speaks out adimatly against abortion.

  • Heh

You guys are always quick to attempt the etenal damnation of people who are in your fold.

Why on earth would you actively support eternal torture for another human being.

Perhaps you should be the one, who recieves the fate you are quick to impose on others?
