Request help with a Mileage Run from ABQ
Tvl4free - I will have 8000 miles after I return from San Jose, Costa Rica this Friday evening (SJO-MEX-ORD-DEN-ABQ), so I will need to get precisely 2000 miles on 31st January starting from ABQ at 4:25pm on United. I would be willing to spend at most $500 for this excursion. I realise that living in ABQ, I have to go thru DEN on any outbound on UAL, but I am used to it. Another option to consider is to use a cheap United fare out of PHX in the evening at 5pm or later on 31st January (I can buy a fare to PHX on Southwest or America West to get there on 31st afternoon).

How about just sacrificing your last segment DEN-ABQ on your Costa Rica return, overnighting in DEN, and using some e-fare from there tomorrow???

I thought about that one too, Viajero, but it presents 3 problems:
1. He needs the 500 miles from the already booked DEN-ABQ trip. If he doesn't take it, then he needs 2,500 on 31JAN.
2. There isn't an e-fare offered on 31JAN that will give him that number of miles - without multiple, multiple cxns.
3. And, if he doesn't take the 500 mile ABQ-DEN trip today, his current tkt will prolly need to be refared. A new OW DEN-ABQ fare will be $ 299 plus tax - plus he'll be exposed (under ur plan) to a new DEN e-fare.
Therefore, it would appear that your DEN e proposal would cost, at best, in excess of $600.
I forgot to mention that I am looking for a United Airlines Mileage Run for this weekend.
I have read the postings on a cheap DEN-PDX or COS-PDX Mileage Runs on this board - I was hoping that ABQ to DEN will not add a lot to this cost - we shall see.
Many thanks in anticipation of your help.

Glad it worked out for you. Welcome back!!
You need either 4 segments out of ABQ (or 'the hop' plus a longer haul out of DEN) to get the 2K. However, your options in accomplishing 'all of that' appear somewhat limited due to you wanting to leave ABQ so late in the day. (You may misconnect with the longer route options in DEN or not get enuf segs, unless you're careful).
However, having said that, how does $248 + garbage sound? $304 all in. Not bad for last second tvl I would think. It would involve a Florida destination with a forced overnite in the Big Apple. That would give you 2,126 on the 31st. Rest is trivia.
E me for particulars - coz your business isn't anybody elses. Unfortunately, we can't tell all here, it seems. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif

Unfortuantely with Albuqurque not being a hub you may pay lots of money. You can try flying to San Fracisco or San Jose via Denver and try other routings.
A nice feature at ABQ is the upstairs lounge in the America West Terminal where you have couches overlooking the runway and fate area. There is a bar downstairs and you don't pay anything. Its quiet and a good place to take photos and movies of the action.
Just be aware of the security checkpoints that you need extra time because from the check-in counters you go up another flight of stairs. Sometimes the lines can go past the ticket counters through secruity.
flights.
I had imagined something like maybe out of DEN, and open jaw back into ABQ-- no refaring of the existing ticket, just scrapping the last segment.
Of course if he/she is already in flight, this is a moot point. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
I can leave on Saturday (1/31) at 3pm from ABQ ...
Precisely how many miles do you need on 1/31? Be specific, please.
You realize that you're cutting this awfully close, I guess. There are only two ABQ-DEN flights left that will get you outta town: the 4:25 and the 5:45. And of course, United is not publishing any e-fares outta ABQ for this weekend.
Finally, someone might want to know how much you're willing to spend to pull this off.
With immense help from tvl4free, I successfully completed my first MR and attained my goal of flying 10k miles in January. TVL4FREE made sure that I crossed over the 10k miles hump 15 minutes before midnight on 31st January. I can not thank TVL4FREE enough - his dedication to helping me find an attractive fare to meet the objective was unwavering! TVL4FREE - I am indebted to you forever! Thank you so much. I also want to appreciate the helpful suggestions and comments made by all the other FT Gurus here as well. FT rocks because of Gurus like you. THANK YOU.
Thanks for the reply. I am a 1K with United and have plenty of upgrade certs (500 miles, HK49, Sweet Spot, Systemwide etc.) to burn. I was looking for the cheapest economy fare for this mileage run.
