Cheap NW fares to Europe from all over US

  • I have been watching DFW-Europe fares over the last month on a daily basis. The best fares yet were posted today on www.nwa.com . I just booked DFW-MEM-AMS / CGN-AMS-MEM-DFW on NW for $329.94 RT including all taxes. Jan 13 dep and Jan 17 return. Around 10588 status miles.

A quick look around www.nwa.com also shows OTP and other European markets at real low prices. A lot of good NW/CO mileage run opportunities out there right now. ^ ^ :D :D

  • sorry, never used NW.com... how did you get these all in? I'm getting $944 for SFO-SVO for the same dates as the OP

    thanks for the info OP!

Change the dates. You need V availability, and the flight has to exist that day (I don't think KLM goes to SVO every day).

    1/12-1/17 works, for example
    2/8-2/13 as well

    Lots of combinations...

  • Beware!! Under "Other Discounts" in the fare rules of the ticket I was looking at it says "WP MILEAGE ACCRUAL IS NOT PERMITTED."

    heck of a "discount"

  • For international fares, it is almost impossible to "remove" the fare until the next day - system limitations. Also, depending on the airline, folks responsible for pricing do not usually work weekends. I would not be surprised if this mistake fare isn't removed until next week...

I guarantee that at least one pricing analyst works for NW ( and every other airline) every weekend. Do you think that they just ignore other airlines ATP transactions?!?

  • ...even if there are no miles.Mitchell

Aren't such statements a violation of TOS? :D

IIRC, wasn't this the same mitchell I bumped into in the gate area at SIN in July '03 doing some crazy SIN MR for the NW points?

  • Although this appears to be a web-only special according to NWA Res, they insist that FF miles were required in addition to the fare. The fare basis is V14CASH/PK030. Does not appear that way to me, as the long version of the rules do not specify this.

For those that actually ticket this fare, please advise if FF miles were deducted from your WorldPerks acct.

Good fares from Memphis as well.

  • Still there, at least for CDG and WAS, but "3. WP MILEAGE ACCRUAL IS NOT PERMITTED." is clearly in the fare rules so I don't think there is any way to convince them its a mistake. Too bad.
About $170 more for mileage earning fare V fare.
    tom

  • I am on the phone now with NW. They tried to not honor the fare and threatened to deduct miles but I held my ground. After being transfered by the Gold Elite line to net support, I spoke with a different supervisor who said the fare was a mistake and they were in the process of removing it. But since I was able to purchase the fare they would honor it and give me FF miles to boot. At no time during the purchase of the fare or even in the confirmation email did they mention this being a cash and miles fare. I won after 30 minutes on the phone :D :D :D

I would be very surprised if any supervisor could modify the fare rules about earning FF miles. THe only way I could see it would be to re-book you into a class that is actually elligible to earn miles. Of course if the fare is put out there, they should honor it, but under the rules of the fare. You bought it with it clearly posted that the fare did not earn miles. You also had to check the box saying you read and understood the fare rules. I think the only miles you will earn are the miles that they don't "charge" you on what should have been a cash + Miles fare.

Stranger things have happened, but you should not be disapointed if after you get back nothing posts.

Yes, it's a cash & miles fare misloaded, so no FF miles are deducted, but no FF miles can be earned (at least according to the fare rules).

  • Change the dates. You need V availability, and the flight has to exist that day (I don't think KLM goes to SVO every day).

thanks, got it working. how did you find this fare? tried to look it up in expedia/travelocity and it hasn't been loaded yet?

  • This doesn't appear to be the first time that NW has loaded these Cash and Miles fares at low fares and not requiring a mileage copayment (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=356424). I would like to know if someone who has already flown on this type of fare was able to earn miles. While the prospect of a sub-$400 fare to Europe is definitely sweet, I couldn't risk earning no miles when my NW requalification is still up in the air...

  • These are great!

If it's a KLM flight operated by NWA -- booking class V, could one earn 100% EQMs for CO OnePass?

  • I tried a number of different dates, but I am not getting this price, despite V class being wide open. Has NW pulled this one already?

If anyone is still able to get it, what are some dates avaliable to SVO?

Looks like it's still available in V class. But I wasn't able to find fares to SVO. Unfortunately, the best I've been able to do was $596.56 all in

  • for those that got in, i realized i still had the fare rules open in firefox this morning. here they are for reference:

  • please delete, double post

  • Looks like fare is gone. I repriced both my trips and they are $740 now.

Great find! I have a friend who bought a hostel in Bucharest last year, and it'll be good to visit. ...even if there are no miles.

  • Some of these are pretty good.

    I priced:

    DFW-VCE $358 all in
    SFO-BCN $393 all in
    SFO-FCO $400 all in
    SFO-WAW $408 all in
    SFO-SVO $408 all in

    Good find! ^

  • I am on the phone now with NW. They tried to not honor the fare and threatened to deduct miles but I held my ground. • The NW agent I spoke with in the wee hours of Saturday told me I would earn miles. The ticket is booked in H for domestic and V for the international legs. Since the entire fare was a "mistake", my pnr was heavily documented about the situation with my fare. I guess I will find out here in a few weeks if I really earn miles. By the way, I've only spent $29.94 out of pocket since $300 of the fare was from a E-TCV.

  • I would be very surprised if any supervisor could modify the fare rules about earning FF miles. THe only way I could see it would be to re-book you into a class that is actually elligible to earn miles.

This fare was booked into V class. V class normally earns miles. So one would expect to earn miles, normally.

Stranger things have happened, but you should not be disapointed if after you get back nothing posts.

Actually, there was no indication that this was actually a cash & miles fare and there was no advance warning that miles would not be awarded (posting this information under "other discounts" is not very easy to find, considering the length of the fare rules). A 'reasonable' person booking this fare would probably expect FF miles since all other non-award bookings booked on nwa.com earns miles.

  • Hello again. SIN and HKG in 7/03 for CO miles (not NW miles).

I haven't done any real mileage runs yet.
Those were my only trips to SIN & HKG so far ($200 each).
And these will be my first trips to Hungary and Turkey ($400 each).
I'm staying for a few days.

Maybe I'll get CO miles for this. :-)
P.S. I saved a copy of the fare rules if anyone wants them.

  • ...even if there are no miles.
    Mitchell

    HERESY! :D

  • 3. WP MILEAGE ACCRUAL IS NOT PERMITTED.

er... So just accrue miles on a partner airline then. It specificly says WP MILEAGE. Nothing about KE Skypass or Delta SM.... ?

    peace,
    ~Ben~

  • Looks like it's still available in V class. But I wasn't able to find fares to SVO. Unfortunately, the best I've been able to do was $596.56 all in

yeah looks like sfo-svo essentially doubled, and is showing up as the "promo" fare i was getting for $408 last night

  • Beware!! Under "Other Discounts" in the fare rules of the ticket I was looking at it says "WP MILEAGE ACCRUAL IS NOT PERMITTED."

  • I tried a number of different dates, but I am not getting this price, despite V class being wide open. Has NW pulled this one already?

    Yes it is.

  • These are great!

If it's a KLM flight operated by NWA -- booking class V, could one earn 100% EQMs for CO OnePass?

Don't think so. If crediting to CO, stick to the KL-coded, KL-operated flights.

  • Beware!! Under "Other Discounts" in the fare rules of the ticket I was looking at it says "WP MILEAGE ACCRUAL IS NOT PERMITTED."
Technically DL miles are not WP miles, so if I credit this to my DL account... Do you think it might work?

  • I would like to know if someone who has already flown on this type of fare was able to earn miles. While the prospect of a sub-$400 fare to Europe is definitely sweet, I couldn't risk earning no miles when my NW requalification is still up in the air...

WP MILEAGE ACCRUAL IS NOT PERMITTED is very clear in the fare rule, although in an unusual place. My guess is the farecode is hardwired to prevent miles from posting. And while I just had success getting miles for a flight that was NW coded/KL operated when booked and became KL coded/Transavia operated when KL had an equipment shortage, the rule didn't say no WP miles. My guess is the only way to earn miles for this trip would be if there was a programming error, and that has happened, but I wouldn't count on it.
I agree it is a great fare, and might be worth taking early in the year when you will have other opportunities to make the miles, but I don't think I'd count on the miles from this one.

  • Fare rules say depart by 3/12. Return by 3/16.

I booked two tickets SFO-OTP (Bucharest, Romania) $404.60 and SFO-IST (Istanbul, Turkey) $394.90. Also booked a SFO-WAW (Warsaw, Poland), but changed my mind and decided to do Romania.

Base fare for all tickets was $309.
