» Finnair: "Plus Service up and running by end of September"
I requalified for Plat back in mid July and today I sent an email asking about my new membership card, which hasn't arrived (and I know from the past that AY is quick in sending out the card after (re)qualification) and also asked about those some 100k points that are still missing from this summer. I got the following answers: 1. They are currently having problems with printing out new membership cards and I was told that they will issue a temporary permit if the old card expires before new one is ready...another "technical" set back, it seems... 2. Missing points, I was told that they target to get the missing points posted by the end of September, also for other OW flights & 3rd party partners.Another way to tackle this fiasco woul...... - 2008-11-18

» Remove Columns from a grid
Hi, is there a way to completly remove columns from a grid? I have the problem if i set columns hidden, that they are shown up again if i add columns and reconfigure the grid. When i reconfigure i tell ext to not hide them because every new column must show up. I do not want another array where i save the already hidden columns. And another thing is that the grid gets really slow if i add some more columns. Thanks...Why not reconfigure the grid with a columnmodel that doesn't contain the column? (or did you also wanted to remove the field from the store?)if you add columns, why not remove the ones you want to from your column model definition?Yeah, thought of that. That means i have to go over the array again and splice out the elemnts t...... - 2008-11-18
» Trip REPORT: LAX-DEN-EWR
Or will the Cat EVER get home. My company changed the return trip to a stop over at DEN to save a few dollars. They saw the price for the DIRECT and said I can deal with a 40 minute layover at DEN. Or so I thought. The SHuttle by UA flight 720, The F-A was getting annoyed that people were there with more than two bags. She said "Just remember that your bags must fit primarily in the seat in front of you then the overhead. She growsed at me earlier when I asked if my upgrade cleared. She said "Well I guess you're oging to have to wait to find out." I did NOT get upgraded and initaally they wanted to me in 19A. I told them I'm PREMEX and deserved a better seat. » Rental car in Cabo
I would like to rent a car at the cabo airport for my honeymoon, staying at the Esperanza, in September. Does anyone have any advice on rental cars there? Thanks.I checked all the major car rentals- inquired as to insurance and additional costs in Mexico- We rented through Avis, a week for $216.00. I made the reservations on line- through thier web site. I emailed Avis, and asked about the insurance and what they covered. I got a reply (that I copied and brought with me) that the rental fee covered the manditory Mexican insurance. Then looked on the internet at my credit card site- and got thier information that they said that they covered- and called the company- got date, time, name of who I talked to - to further document what t...... - 2008-11-18
» Is renting Alamo thru Southwest website usually this good a deal?
Is renting Alamo thru Southwest website usually this good a deal? This thread outlines: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/005310.html I hardly ever rent cars, and Alamo seems cheapest whenever one compares, so hey, that is fine with me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif This rental came in at $71.98 in Florida for compact, from Thurs am to Wed pm drop off. (Is that 6 days or 7 days using 'rental speak'?!) Used the NW or CO coupons and codes, but it seemed real cheap to me all the same. Is that usual on the SW website? Odd it was a lot cheaper than using same codes with Alamo direct is my point. It seems to be about the going rate right now. I booked a mid-size with one free day and "casino" discount (34%) in MCO for 5...... - 2008-11-18

» Chenge Color
Hi, in my column A I have formula, and the value comes in percentage, like 100% , 2%, etc. Now I try to out conditional formating for that, so if value is greater then or equal to 100%, then change the font color. Its not working right. It supose to change color only when value is equal to 100% or greater then 100%. but in my case it was changing color for all value. but If I have 100% manully (not linked with formula) in some other column, then same condition formating works for that. But why it does not work with the cell which is based on formula. Any help please. Thanks in advanceby the way I am using this following formula. =IF(SUM(G6:K6)>0,IF((MIN(G6:K6))-B6=0,"0%",IF(MIN(G6:K6)0,IF((MIN(G84:K84))-B84=0,"0",I...... - 2008-11-18

» How far along am I? Please help!!!?
I went to get an ultrasound on Friday...I figured I was 10 weeks 1 day from my LMP , Well the ultrasound tech said the baby measured at 8 weeks 6 days. So, How far along am I? My LMP was Aug. 7th She also gave me 2 due dates, May 14th from the LMP and May 23rd from the size of the baby. So what do I go by?? Im so confused and I dont go to the doctor till the 7th of November. I answered your other question too, here's what i think... I have a feeling this will happen to me, as i know i ovulated late in the month(day 20). If most people ovulate on the 14th day of their cycle so ten weeks pregnant is eight weeks past ovulation which for me would be 9 weeks 1 day after. So if you ovulated on the 21st day of your cycle this makes th...... - 2008-11-18
» What Did I Do Wrong
Yesterday I connected through SEA and it appeared that I had to go out to the unsecured area then reenter and be rescreened, etc. here are the details. I arrived at the north terminal I think on a Horizon Air flight from Portland. I had to transfer to the south terminal for a connecting flight on Northwest. I was directed down an escalator where a tram took me to the main terminal I think. Either there was no direct route to the south terminal or I missed it so I had to go up a couple of floors to the main area then had to reenter the secured area, then proceeded to the south terminal where I was resreened. The security guy said when I asked if I had done something wrong that he thought everyone had to undergo the additional screening. He ...... - 2008-11-18

If anyone has followed the authentication problems I had with my site which is on a Windows server (see this thread (http://www.phpdig.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=496)), I've modified the admin/index.php script to handle user authentication in a slightly different way to solve that problem. You can view my modified script here (http://www.techtipscentral.net/search/admin/index.txt). Note that if you use it, you'll no longer need to use auth.php. I also added a feature that gives the user 3 tries to authenticate, then calls the sleep function for 10 seconds. That is to discourage anyone from running their own script to try hacking into the administration functions. I welcome any comments, criticisms, etc. regarding my script. Thank...... - 2008-11-18
» Layout Manager
I'm getting to grips with this concept. I want a Layout to take place inside my "content" div or any other container element. I want a collapsible north with a splitter. This will contain a Grid, and on select of a row, the centre will load a preview. I'm just getting the layout code together, but I'm a bit lost. When in the "content" div, tt's making the whole thing a bit too high which is causing a scoll bar. It's sizing the Layout to the page. I want the layout in the content div (sized to match the page). This ListManager objectwill have to create this layout in any container. Right now, it's in the main content area, but it could be in a BasicDialog (I'm moving away from heavyweight YUI stuff) When I collapse the north p...... - 2008-11-18

» Any info about Air Japan?
I'm booked on an NH flight operated by Air Japan from HKG-NRT. Can't find any info on them. I "googled" them and only came up with JAL stuff. Anyone flown them before? P-They are a subsidiary of ANA that operate flights on behalf of ANA. I think the rationale behind it is that the company has a lower cost structure than ANA mainline. I flew with them recently from NRT to BKK and the comfort and service was equivalent to ANA mainline. No complaints.IIRC, a prominent NH DIamond on this board once told me that all of the "Club ANA Asia" aircraft are owned by Air Japan. I would say that the relationship is similar to UA and Ted. » Admirals and Ambassadors
TWA and US Airways are two of the few airlines that sell lifetime memberships to their airport clubs at $2,475 and $2,950, respectively. With those two airlines lined up to be bought by American and United, I wonder whether the buyers will honor these lifetime memberships within their own clubs. If so, would that make these a good buy in the next couple of months? A lifetime membership to the US Airways Club looks particularly attractive because it offers access to American's Admirals Club until August, then possible lifetime entree to United's Red Carpet Club.In the past two years, I have bought life memberships with TW, HP, and US for just this reason. Gigantic Progress Measured In Inches "It is almost 18 months since American Airlines began ripping coach seats out of every plane in its fleet to add as much as five inches of legroom for every coach passenger it flies. And fly American I have-24 coach segments in the last four months-to decide whether a few more inches of seat pitch translates into any significant improvement in our lives on the road. Twenty-four flights later, I can say this: If you fly coach, you've got to be nuts not to be flying with American. This is gigantic progress measured in inches. » Question about ILS/Missed Approaches/Alt Airports
Hi There, I flew YYZ-LGA on AC720 on Friday April 11, 2008. Flight was delayed coming out of YYZ, we used E90 instead of scheduled A320 so I assume it was because of weather delays.. Anyhow, flying into LGA we had to hold for about 20 mins then went into approach to LGA. We were coming into land when all of a sudden, a big roar, full power applied and very very steep climb. Was quite exciting... looked at the guy beside me and said "thats a missed approach", he didnt look too excited. In fact people around the plane didnt look so "well"... At this point I really missed united's channel 9 to know why we did a missed approach. I don't want to eat it, but am I still consuming the calories and fat by just chewing it?not if u dont swallow it.novery little, some things will be absorbed in the oral mucosa. I think the amount would be so small it wouldn't matter.Chewing food is part of the digestive system. I think you are torturing yourself by just chewing food instead of swallowing it. You're actually wasting food this way. VIVA LA RAZA!No...must swallow.not if you dont swallow it otherwise you havnt consumed it duhyes you can since digestion begins in the mouth once the saliva touches the food you are digesting. Nope not really. You might pick up a few calories from stuff that gets ...... - 2008-11-18

» I know this is kinda late but who else had the worst Christmas ever? If not how was it?
I got mostly what I wanted for Christmas. The bad part was that I was all alone this Christmas. My twin brother along with my dad were in the hospital because of a car accident since Christmas eve. My other seven sibling and my step-mom were stuck in an air port due to bad weather. So I was all alone at home with my dog that was dying on Christmas. We were supposed to get back home a day before Christmas eve but there was only room for three people on the early flight. My dad twin brother and I went because we went last the other time. When we got back I was tired because I couldnt sleep at all on the plane. So only my dad and brother went to a place to buy some hot chocolate. » Flying between 2 Canadian cities routed through the USA?
So I always thought this wasn't allowed. Even on award tickets, in the rules it always says "25k miles - Wholly within USA and Canada", but when you try to book a ticket between 2 Cdn. cities on DL or AA for example which I have tried in the past, it just says "this routing pair not allowed". Today while looking for a UA award ticket YUL-YVR, assuming it would be an AC Star award, I was given the routing YUL-IAD-ORD-YVR and YVR-DEN-ORD-YUL on the return. Anyone else see that before? » Aeroplan Spinoff
In today's Globe And Mail it was reported AC's plans to spinoff Aeroplan inanIPO for approximately 1/3 of the shares might still proceed despite market volatility. AC would retain the remaining 2/3rd's. Reportedly the 1/3rd value may very well exceed the equity in AC (316 million). This seems to indicate that the perception of travel is worth more than the travel itself. What value is there in owning AP? Would AirCanada pay Aeroplan for the points they award for travel on AC, and then charge them for reward travel tickets that AP isssues?Yep, that is exactly what's happening. It will cost AC $ to buy AP points to award to members flying them and AP will have to pay $ to AC for award seats. This allows AC to view both traditional paid an...... - 2008-11-18

Now that I am done with my prelim exam (occurred during and right before the Harper County tornadoes), I am ready to prevent severe weather occurring by driving into the plains. As such, the first day I am considering messing up is this Sunday. I'll be the first to jump in this forum. Currently, the zonal pattern is setting up, which looks to contain a robust disturbance in the runs for Sunday. In response, a somewhat disorganized sfc low sets up somewhere in the tri-state region, allowing moisture return of decent magnitude to advect northward. (It will be interesting to see if this prediction is accurate). Along with the upper level features, a warm front should set up W-E across NE, or somewhere around there. From today's National Post: http://www.nationalpost.com/financialpost/story.html?f=/stories/20010925/704454.htmlYou would think that a "Senior Writer" would know a little bit about the airline industry before he puts pen to paper. The mistakes in this article make me think that he would have trouble making coherent words on the bathroom wall.Rather than patiently waiting for the troubled Canadian Airlines to simply expire, Mr. Milton took on its ageing fleet and its debt ... Mr. Milton then defied Ottawa in clinging to the networks of regional carriers that fed Air Canada and Canadian with passengers As if waiting for CP to expire was an option. And he was going to do what, exactly, with the regional carriers? I'm not Robert Milton's ...... - 2008-11-18

» Luck with upgrade window for domestic flights
What's the general consensus on luck getting an upgrade actually at the time the window you are eligible for opens? In other words I am PLAT and it is now 48 hours to my flight and I still do not have a confirmed upgrade despite 8 seats showing open in F. Do these windows actually mean anything or are they useless until the actual inventory is released and then they just go down the list in order of status and when initially requested?Speaking as a EXP, I'm 100% on upgrades. I have noticed however that they do not all clear at the 100 hours anymore as they did prior to 9/11 Even with wide open cabins I've been down to 24 hours before some have cleared which is very unusual.the computer will clear ug's @ the window if available. otherwise...... - 2008-11-18
» Jet Airways upgrade vouchers
Has anyone tried using these to upgrade a award ticket? I was wondering that if you are ticketed on a C award and at check-in they have space available in First will the accept your vouchers and upgrade you? I know that offically this is not allowed but it makes sense for them to accept these vouchers rather then let the seat go empty? Atleast they get these vouchers off their books? Has anyone tried this?Bump.... Anyone? You could always try asking at checkin. I would imagine it depends on available loads in F. Even then airlines tend to frown on two class upgrades, upgrading award tix etc. Has anyone tried using these to upgrade a award ticket? I requalified for Plat back in mid July and today I sent an email asking about my new membership card, which hasn't arrived (and I know from the past that AY is quick in sending out the card after (re)qualification) and also asked about those some 100k points that are still missing from this summer. I got the following answers: 1. They are currently having problems with printing out new membership cards and I was told that they will issue a temporary permit if the old card expires before new one is ready...another "technical" set back, it seems... 2.

(Since then I've been giving them the bulk of my business and I'm Diamond.)I believe that Hyatt has stated previously in FlyerTalk that they will not cut off a member for inactivity.Have you noticed that we haven't seen any Concierge postings for quiet a while?According to the Gold Passport terms and conditions; Gold Passport members are required to stay at a Hyatt Hotel once a year to keep their membership active. i want my hair to gradually get lighter to become blonde cheap shampoo sunTanningApply Henna.chlorine from swimming pool o.O well, thats what my friend said :)during summer put lemon drops on your hair and go in the sunUse lemon juice, then sit in the sun. The acidity of the juice will naturally bleach your hair. However, you will never be completely blond without using a peroxide bleach.it would help of you said what colour it is now, swimming can help as pools have a lot of chlorine, which helps lighten it, also going into the sun a lot and using conditioners for blonde hair will bring ou the colour of the light bits of your hair Not sure what color your hair is now but I can tell you that my hair, for a few years, went from dark br...... - 2008-11-18

Tornado watch went up early so I had to shake off the hangover and focus on the task at hand. We don't get too many opportunities up here to chase so today was a big day. Three cells of interest today, all three tornadic during their lifetimes. Storm #1 ditched me before could get to the tornado in central MD near Columbia. Beautiful radar presentation on that one. Storm #2 rolled off the Blue Ridge Mtns. and quickly reached severe levels in northern Fauquier County, VA. I found a great place to watch it in Haymarket, VA. I was looking on Expedia and I found some good deals from ROC to Florida. ROC-TPA $84 (fare code VR7SPN) on AA ROC-FLL $90 (fare code VR7SPN) on AA ROC-MIA $104 (fare code LR14SPN) on AA All fares are effective Mar 14, 2002. No minimum stay neccessary. ROC-TPA/FLL offers the most flexible routing (and is the cheapest) and it is also in class V which seems to have more availability than L class. I was able to price TPA-MIA-LGA-STL-ORD-ROC-ORD-STL-LGA-MIA-TPA (10 segements, minimum of 500 miles each = 5000 miles) for $115 including taxes on itn.netThese fares have been up for over a week... and they extend for the entire year.

It is there now at least.People Magazine is one of the 500 mile partners....... - 2008-11-18
» Kanji ... I just don't get it!
I'm having a hard time pushing myself to learn Kanji. Not really because there's so many, but because I... well, there are still things I don't get... So most Kanji have an On and a Kun reading, right? And a good number of those have multiple readings for both? And then even multiple meanings, right? Basically... what should I know? Should I study the On reading? When do I pernounce the On reading instead of the Kun reading? How many different readings for each Kanji should I learn at this point as a beginner? Furthermore, how in the world do I look Kanji up? Are there Kanji dictionaries? How would you look up Kanji--by number of strokes and then stroke direction? Then! When two Kanji are stuck next to each other, they mean something co...... - 2008-11-18
» 3/17/06 NOW: SW Texas
A little surprised no one has been discussing the right turning supercell in southwest Texas currently. Conditions were pretty favorably today. I had targeted "old faithful" that will almost always fire up along the Balmorhea/Ft. Stockton corridor due to the winds getting a natural orographic spin to them in that area when the conditions are right (like today). Sure enough, old faithful has sprung up over Ft. Stockton. Attempted a left split just as it turned right (left side died quickly) and is now heading SE down I10. Knowing storms I have often chased in that area, I would venture to say it has a very impressive wall cloud on it. The storm has had persistant rotation and large hail indicated. It's too far from the radar site to see the...... - 2008-11-18
» Confused about codeshares
I haven't had much experience with codeshares; can someone shed some light please? On the AA.com schedules, if a non-AA connecting flight in the schedule has an asterisk, is that the codeshare for AA or for the airline listed by the asterisk? It's pretty easy to tell online. Any flight that's listed as American Airlines and had a flight # 4000 or higher is a code share. FlipBut there are different kinds of codeshares. There's Eagle codeshares and TWA codeshares vs. the foreign-airline codeshares. We can still upgrade TWA-operated flights, but not any of the foreign-airline codeshares. If you are referring to AA* flight numbers, yes, these are AA codeshares on flights operated by another airline. For the purposes of AAdvantage mileage ac...... - 2008-11-18

» Time Magazine article about FAA
Very interesting article about life at the FAA during the beginning of the nightmare: The Day the FAA Stopped the World http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,174912,00.html ------------------ Addicted to airline miles? Check out: Mileage Workshop (http://www.mileageworkshop.com)Thanks for that. My husband's facility had a Singapore Air flight that said it didn't have fuel to make it to Canada and would have to land at the then-closed OAK. Two F-16s escorted it in. As the FAA was aware what was happening on the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania, there was much discussion about whether or not to shoot it down. That would have certainly been an added emotional strain on the nation.Very good article. Thank you, MileageAddict...... - 2008-11-18
» ba calling card
anybody else get this ba calling card in the mail? anybody actually use it? what's the deal (or better yet, is it a deal compared to mci, at&t, or sprint(mci))?Yes, I received it, but haven't used it. I have a feeling that AT&T is behind the BA calling card, as: * BA is partners with AT&T * AT&T calling card calls were recently excluded from the standard 5 BA miles/dollar deal that AT&T offers to long distance customers * Bumph with the card compared its rates (favourably) to those available through Sprint and MCI (well... this was a shot in the dark guess...) [This message has been edited by baobab (edited 10-17-1999).]When we got the card from BA, I looked online to see what I could find out about the company offering the card. N...... - 2008-11-18
» "Air Canada chief should be grounded"

I was wondering that if you are ticketed on a C award and at check-in they have space...... - 2008-11-18
